Dr. Tiffany Tang

After moving around Canada throughout her childhood, Dr. Tang found her way to Guelph nearly 20 years ago and never looked back. What started as a place to work quickly became home, thanks to the welcoming community and the people she’s had the privilege of caring for over the years. After many years as an associate, she is now proud to call herself the owner of Royal City Optometry.

The best part of Dr. Tang’s job is the relationships she builds with patients. She enjoys helping people navigate their eye health concerns, finding practical solutions, and making appointments feel a little less intimidating, usually with the help of a well-timed dad joke.

Dr. Tang is a spicy food fanatic and a couple of her favourite spots around town include NaHa Thai’s Kitchen and Crafty Ramen. She likes to offset her love of good food by sportsing poorly on weekends. Most of the time, though, you’ll find her with a coffee in her hand, cheering on her kids at the hockey rink, soccer pitch or rugby field.

Dr. dana smart

Born and raised in Guelph, Dr. Smart returned after eight years in Waterloo, drawn back by family, familiar faces, and the mix of green space, arts, and community that makes the city feel like home.

She loves that optometry allows her to care for patients of all ages and backgrounds. Dr. Smart is especially passionate about ocular disease management and takes pride in making patients feel listened to, informed, and never rushed. She also wants everyone to know that yes, almost everybody has a little astigmatism

Dr. Smart’s ideal day includes a black coffee, a walk with her rescue dog, Soda, at the Arboretum, and dinner with family. She’s a fan of summer vibes at The Boathouse Tea Room, and winter nights at The Bookshelf. Also, if everyone shows up on time, her day is automatically 10/10.

Dr. rachel bruns

Dr. Bruns first came to Guelph for university and never really left. She loves the city’s strong sense of community, its support for local businesses, and the many family-friendly spaces that have helped make Guelph feel like home for her husband and young kids.

After working in corporate healthcare, Dr. Bruns was drawn to independent eye care, where she could spend more time with patients and focus on what works best for them. She enjoys solving visual challenges, figuring out why someone’s glasses aren’t working for their lifestyle, and helping them find a solution that makes everyday tasks easier and more comfortable.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll likely find her playing pickleball, tackling a home renovation project, or making waffles with the kids. A coffee from Lost Aviator is always close by.

betty

After moving to Guelph from Milton, Betty quickly fell in love with the city’s welcoming community and the balance of green space, local businesses, and small-town charm.

Betty brings that same warmth into the clinic every day. She loves getting to know patients personally and helping them understand that eye health is about much more than just seeing clearly. One of her favourite parts of the job is creating those little moments that make people smile and feel genuinely cared for.

When she’s not at the clinic, you’ll usually find her quilting, knitting, reading a good book, or supporting local favourites like The Fat Duck Gastro Pub and Guelph Tool Library.

christiaunna

Born and raised in Guelph, Christiaunna loves the homey vibe of the city and is always happy to point people toward local spots like Atmosphere Cafe for a delicious meal, great service and a good excuse not to cook.

She found her way into eye care through a job at her childhood optometrist’s office and quickly realized she loved working with people just as much as learning about the industry. Around the clinic, she enjoys helping patients feel relaxed and comfortable, especially those who haven’t quite had enough coffee yet.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find her reading fantasy novels, sewing, hanging out with her cats and dog, or spending Sundays at her parents’ house for family dinner. She also thinks that a double-double, coloured pens and her trusty notebook can solve most of life’s problems.

Jessica

Jessica grew up in Fergus but moved to Guelph because it had the perfect balance: big enough for great restaurants and coffee shops, but small enough that a “quick errand” usually turns into running into someone you know.

As one of the first people patients meet at the clinic, she loves helping people feel comfortable, welcomed, and genuinely cared for. After previously working in pharmacy, Jessica moved into eye care looking for something more personal and relationship-focused.

Outside the clinic, she’s usually recommending local hot spots like Red Brick Cafe, reading a good book, latch hooking or cheering on the Argos with her young family.  She also thinks nothing beats an iced cap made with chocolate milk.

Leanna

Leanna didn’t exactly plan on a career in eye care. It started with a part-time job in a clinic with her mom, and quickly turned into something she genuinely fell in love with. Now, she gets to combine her love of people, eyewear, and nerding out over optics.

Originally from Etobicoke, she moved to Guelph while pregnant with her second child, looking for a smaller and more connected community. Although she now lives in Fergus, she still spends plenty of time in Guelph enjoying local markets, visiting her favourite restaurants like Fusion Authentic Indian Cuisine, and exploring the city with her family.

Her favourite part of the job is helping patients understand their options, find frames that feel just right, and experience those unforgettable “I can see!” moments. Her second favourite part is listening to Betty wage her ongoing battle against the office paper shredder.
